メディア芸術祭とマンガパワー
小１男子を連れて、足を運んだ2010年度(第14回)文化庁メディア芸術祭。息子がゲームのコーナーにへばり付いていたため（お父ちゃん、すぐそばにいてねと言われた）、あまりあちこちに見られなかった。
それでも途中、息子に「ざっとまわってくるから、このゲームのあたりにいてや」と言い残し、ひとりで回遊。
そのとき、特に印象に残ったのは、
人間エアホッケーみたいな「eスポーツグラウンド」
息子が、テレビゲームやDSのあるコーナーに貼り付いていたので、この人間エアホッケーみたいなのはできなかったけど、おもしろそうだった。上記の映像が、メディア芸術祭でのものではないけど、どんなゲームなのかは分かると思う。
サカナクション『アルクアラウンド』
このPVは去年の何月だっかな、夏よりも前だっと思うけど、スペースシャワーTVで偶然見て、びっくりした。デジタルのようでアナログな味わいに感心。ハイテクのような、ローテクの魅力にあふれている。
もうひとつ、驚いたというか笑ったのは『NIGHT LESS』。
Googleストリートビューの映像だけをつないだロードムービー、というのがいい。作品概要に最後にある「撮影せずにつくられた映画は、果たして「映画」といえるのだろうか」という言葉がいい。映画とは何か、考えさせられる。
「ゲラゲラ笑った」というような「笑った」でなく、「あ、やられた！」という感じで「笑った」。作者の田村友一郎さんのユーモアに、スカッとした気分になった。
素の素材を編集するDJのようでもあり、相手が仕掛けてきた勢いを利用する巴投げのようでもある。
他人の土俵で相撲をとっているように見えて、まったく新たな魅力を立ち上がらせた「NIGHT LESS」に拍手。Googleストリートビューの映像はすべて日中のため、「NIGHT LESS（夜がない）」とタイトル付けしたセンスにも脱帽。シャレが効いている。
Googleストリートビューの映像を使用したことにより、権利問題が発生する可能性があるからか、YouTubeでも「NIGHT LESS」は発見できず残念。
と、ここまでメディア芸術祭らしい作品にふれたが、本音をいえば、もっとも感じたのはマンガのパワー。アニメーション部門も魅力十分に思えたが、マンガ部門優秀賞の山本直樹さん『レッド』、奨励賞の福満しげゆきさん『うちの妻ってどうでしょう？』の２作が強烈に印象に残った。
手が描いた線の強さ、情報量の多さ。情緒を揺さぶる肉筆。ウィキペディアによると、山本直樹さんはMacも使っているようだが、基本的には手描きの線の魅力が大きいように思う。
デジタルがどこまで進んでも、アナログの魅力は廃れない。いや、廃れないどころか、デジタルが増えれば増えるほど、手跡が見えるアナログの価値は高まるはずと確信。
先週、たまたま見つけた記事で、「機動戦士ガンダム」の監督である富野由悠季さんが、CGの批判をしていたけど、その話を思い出した。デジタルとアナログ、両方の魅力をかけ合わせるのがいいのだろうと、あらためて感じた。
