ダーリンコラムの清水智信選手
ほぼ日のダーリンコラム、きょうは清水智信選手が取り上げられていてびっくり。2年ちょっと前、下北沢の金子ボクシングジムに見学に訪れた際、トレーニングをしていた清水選手がとてもかっこよかったのをよく覚えています。

今日のダーリン
・野球やら、女子サッカーやら、
アイススケートやらの結果が知りたくて、
スポーツ番組を見ていました。
そしたら、WBA世界スーパーフライ級王者である
清水智信選手の特集があったのです。
清水選手といえば、
ラーメン店勤務のチャンピオンとしても有名ですが、
そういうことは、とりあえずおいといてですね、
こういうセリフがあったんです。
「そのときまで、感謝するべき人のことを忘れていた。
彼女はどんなときでも、いつも笑顔でいてくれた」
つまり、これは、彼の奥さんのことなんです。
じぶんを大切に思ってくれる奥さんのことを、
同じように大切にできていなかったという反省でした。
そのセリフのあと、奥さんの映像が何度も出てきました。
それがね、「いつも笑顔でいてくれた」って、
よくある言い方みたいだけれど、
ほんとに「いつも笑顔」だったんですよ！
なんの関係もないぼくが、驚いてしまったわけです。
この人は、ほんとに、実際、まったく、
事実として「いつも笑顔」だったんだ！
世界チャンピオンになる人も素晴しいかもしれないけど、
その人の苦難の道をいっしょに歩みながら、
「いつも笑顔」を見せていた人は、もっと素晴しいです。
高校野球、春のセンバツでも、21世紀枠で出場した
石巻工の阿部主将は「感動、勇気、笑顔を見せましょう」と、
選手宣誓で約束したのでした。
そして、チームのみんなが、
ほんとうに笑顔のプレイを見せてくれていた。
「いつも笑顔」って、ぼくは表現のひとつだと、
勝手に決めつけていました。
でも、それは、ぼくがまちがっていたんですね。
「いつも笑顔」の人は、実際にいたわけですし、
「いつも笑顔」の高校生たちも、試合をしていました。
「いつも笑顔」ってできるんだよと、じぶんに教えます。
いま、せめて、口角をあげて原稿を書き終えます。
今日も、「ほぼ日」に来てくれてありがとうございます。
大人になるにつれて不機嫌な顔になるって、ヘンですよね。
