第30回すみだ錦糸町「河内音頭大盆踊り」に足を運んだ。僕は大阪出身でありながら、実はこれまで、あまり河内音頭に接していない。というのは、僕の実家があるのは大阪の北摂エリアに属し、河内音頭が盛んな、大阪の南のほうの地域とはけっこう離れているからだ。いや、それが本当に理由かどうかは僕にもわからないが、おそらくそういうことだと思う。
錦糸町の高速道路（首都高）高架下で催された、昨夜の盆踊り。河内音頭はふつうの盆踊りよりもファンキーで自由な雰囲気。エレキギターなどを用い、人によってはギターを弾きながら歌うということもあるが、踊りもラテン系というか、はねながら踊る感じ。
出店は、片側に焼きそば、かき氷、イカ焼きなどが多彩に並び、その反対側にはテントの居酒屋が並ぶ。子供に散在させようとするお祭りというより（実際には出費するにはその保護者だが）、大人を対象とした祭りという印象がして好感を抱いた。錦糸町という場所柄、会場の隣、夜空を見上げると「HOTELケンブリッチ」というネオンがギラついていた。
