今朝、北海道から届いた野菜。箱を開けてみたら、ジャガイモ、さつまいも、玉ねぎをはじめ、いくつか入っていた。
その中から、「何これ？」と思ったのが、これ。「カリフラワー ブロッコリー 掛け合わせ」で検索すると、「ロマネスコ」という名の野菜だとわかった。その存在、妻はすでに知っていたみたいだけど、僕は今回初めて目にしたような気がする。意識していなかっただけで、前にもちらっと見たことがあったりするのかなぁ。
ウィキペディアの「ロマネスコ」ページには、「16世紀にローマ近郊で開発されたとされている。これには異論もあり、ドイツでも同時期から栽培の記録がある」とある。
ロマネスコだけで単品撮ってもよかったのだけど、ズッキーニを組み合わせて撮影してみた。
「ロマネスコの花蕾は幾何学的な配置となっており、個々の蕾が規則正しい螺旋を描いて円錐を成している」という記述も、ウィキペディアにあり、この「幾何学的」という言葉に刺激され、人の顔のように配置してしまったのかな。よくわからないけど。
